Empowerment and Education Equal Opportunities

The People's Foundation for Sierra Leone is a non-profit organization that was established in 2009 with the primary aims of providing mentoring and counselling services to youth who are struggling with issues such as sexual abuse and HIV/AIDS, enabling them to rise above adversity and pursue their dreams through university education. We sponsored 4 students last year, and with the funds we have raised this year, we will be sending those 4 students back to their 2nd year of studies, as well as enabling 4 new students to start their dreams. Follow our work over the next 4 months as our director Krissi Bucholtz travels back to Sierra Leone to carry out the programs. For more information about our organization, please check our new website.

Leaving on a jet plane!

Hey all,

Well, here I am, sitting in YVR airport, waiting to leave Vancouver and head back to Sierra Leone. It seems like this just happened - how has 8 months already passed? It's hard to believe, but I am so grateful that I am blessed enough to be heading back to the place God has called me to and blessed enough to carry forward the love and support from Canada all the way there. As many of you know, our fundraising goal for this year was $10,000, as we were hoping to send 4 students back to university, send 4 more, and have a little left over. We have almost DOUBLED our fundraising goal, sitting at just over $19,000 this year, and I could not be more thrilled, humbled, or amazed at how good God is. I cannot wait to get back to Sierra Leone and celebrate his goodness. How amazing it is to be called to something so much higher that I deserve, to take part in something that is literally changing people's lives in another part of the world. So I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to all of you who donated, supported, and beleived in this dream...please follow this blog this summer and watch it unfold. Well, boarding calls, but you are all in my heart and my prayers, and we could not do this without you! I am headed to Sierra Leone now, and will arrive Friday afternoon...talk soon!
